狮子与老鼠

When a lion was asleep(睡着的), a little mouse began running up and down beside him.

狮子睡着了，有只老鼠在他的周围爬上爬下。

This soon wakened the lion.

这样很快就把狮子吵醒了。

He was very angry, and caught the mouse in his paws.

狮子很生气，用他的爪子一把抓住了老鼠。

"Forgive me, please." cried the little mouse:"Maybe I am able to help you someday." The lion was tickled(使高兴) at these words.

“请您饶了我吧。”老鼠哭喊道：“也许有一天我能帮上你的忙呢。”狮子被这些话逗乐了。

He thought:"How could this little mouse help me?"

他想：“这只小老鼠怎么能帮上我的忙?”

However he lifted up his paws and let him go.

但他还是抬起爪子放他走了。

A few days later, the lion was caught in a trap(陷阱).

不久，狮子被陷阱困住了。

The hunters wanted to take him alive to the king, so they tied him to a tree, and went away to look for a wagon.

猎人们想将狮子活活的献给国王，他们就把狮子捆在一棵大树上，然后去找马车。

Just then, the little mouse passed by, and saw the sad lion.

这时，老鼠路过这里，看到了伤心的狮子。

He went up to him, and soon gnawed(啃咬) away the ropes(绳索).

他走了过去，很快啃断了绳索。

The little mouse said:"Although I am small, I can help you."

小老鼠说：“我虽小，可是我也能帮上你的忙。”
