It was a winter morning without the sun, the freezing cold quietly nipping（刺骨的） to the bone of the people waiting for the bus. They were all black, sometimes raising their heads to look afar or looking up at the sullen（阴沉的） sky.
一个冬天的早晨，没有太阳，等公交车的人们都能感觉到悄悄袭来的刺骨的寒冷。他们都是黑人，时而抬头望向远方，时而仰头望着阴沉沉的天空。
Suddenly, the crowd stirred up（激起）. Yes, here came a bus. A minibus rolled along in no hurry. Curiously, the people still stood where they were, still raising their heads and looking at the place farther away;
突然，整个人群打起了精神。没错，公交车来了。一辆小巴不紧不慢地开了过来。奇怪的是，人们还站在原地，仰着头或是眺望远方；
they didnt seem to be anxious to get on the bus, still expecting something. Who were they waiting for? Did they have a partner not to come? Sure enough, after a figure appeared from afar（从远方）, the crowd stirred up once again.
他们看上去并不急着上车，好像还要等什么人来似的。他们在等谁呢？是某个同伴还没有到吗？ 很明显，一个身影从远处走来，人群再次攒动开来。
The figure walked hurriedly, sometimes trotted（小跑） and finally drew near. It was a woman, a white woman. At this time, the crowd was on the point of cheering. Undoubtedly, she was the partner who other black people were waiting for together.
这个人走得很急，时而还小跑一段，终于渐渐走近了。她是位女士，是白人。这时，大家马上欢呼起来。毫无疑问，她就是其他黑人们等着一起乘车的那位同伴。
Why? You know, in this country, the white and the black were always hostile（敌对） to each other. What force made them so close? Formerly（原来）, it was a remote way station, the bus moved to and fro（来回地） every two hours,
这是为什么呢？你知道，这是一个黑人白人动辄就势不两立的国度。是什么拉近了他们之间的距离？ 在此之前，这是一个偏远的车站，公交车每两个小时才来回一趟，
and the bus drivers had a privity（默契）: the bus stopped in the presence of white people, but the people who lived nearby were almost black. It was said that the white woman was a writer who lived in a place three miles ahead, where there was also a station.
司机们有个默契：只有看到白人等车才会停车。可是这附近的居民几乎都是黑人。据说这位白人女士是一位作家，住在前面三英里远的地方，那里也有车站。
But in order to make the black people ride the bus favorably, she insisted walking here for three miles to board the bus, rain or shine. The black people almost embraced（拥抱） the writer to send her on to the bus.
为了能让黑人朋友们坐到车，她坚持从家步行三英里来这站坐车，晴天雨天始终如一。 黑人朋友们几乎是簇拥着这位作家上的车。
“Hi, Susan.” Before the female writer kept her legs, she heard someone call her name. Looking up, she saw her friend Jay.Why do you get on the bus here?” asked Jay in confusion. “Because,” the writer said, pointing to the station, “the bus doesnt stop without white people. So I come here.”
“嗨，苏珊。”女作家刚坐好，就听到有人叫她。抬眼一看，原来是她的朋友杰伊。 “你怎么在这儿上车？”杰伊不解。 “因为，”作家指着车站说，“没白人等车的时候这车不停，我就来了。”
With that, the writer tidied up（整理） the goods in her arms. Surprised, Jay stared at the writer and said, “Just for these black people?” The writer also widened her eyes, “Why, is it very important?”
说完，作家整理了一下拿着的物品。 杰伊吃惊地盯着作家，说道：“就为了这些黑人？” 作家也睁大了眼睛：“怎么了？这有什么的？”
We were also surprised and then came to understand as long as you have love in your heart, everything will be as pure as nature.
我们听了也很吃惊，这才明白只要心中有爱，一切都会像大自然一样纯净美好。
