Warning: Improperly used abrasives wheels are Dangerous!!! Abrasive wheels are extensively used in various industries with diffrent purposes. The use of abrasivewheels in an unsafe way often causes accidents leading to personal injuries anddamage to properties.It is recommended that all personnel involved in the use, handling and purchasing of abrasive wheels become familiar with below standards. 1 HANDLING *Always handle abrasives wheels in careful manner. *Be sure use suitable conveyance.*Never lean wheels against machines equipment. *Its will be dangerous whenplace tools or parts on top of abrasives wheels. *When transporting abrasives wheels , must provide firm support at all times. 2 STORAGE *All abrasives, should be stored in areas which are maintained at 40% 50% relative humidity and 60 80 degrees F 18 22 degrees C. Glue bonded abrasives wheels especially sensitive to high humidity. *Abrasives should be kept in their original packing containers for storage. *Store abrasives away from a heat source, such as radiators, steam pipes, furnaces, or windows. *Cartons should be kept away from damp or cold walls and floor where they may absorb moisture.*Bonded grinding discs and cut off wheels should be stored flat until used. *Bonded abrasives wheels should be handled carefully to avoid dropping or bumping. This also applies to coated abrasive flap wheels and mounted abrasives discs. *Regular stock rotation is also recommended. 3 MOUNTING * Always do wheels inspection for any evidence of damage in transit, handling, storage, or prior use. etc. *Perform a “ring test” to the wheel before mounting, undamaged wheel will give a clear tone. A cracked wheel will give you a dead sound. *Never using a wheel that is in a damaged container without performing a “ring test”. Internal “stress cracks” could occur if the packings already damaged. *Proper flanges should always be used for cut off wheels. Do not over tighten mounting nuts and avoid “springing” the flanges. *Nevermounting the flat type abrasives wheel with unequal sized flanges. *Be careful when mounting the center depressed wheels: a. When the adaptor has been tightened, there should be a slight clearance between the flange and the wheel at A. This ensures that clamping pressure is exerted only at the centre of the hub section. b. The outer part of the face of the flange adjacent to the wheel should be tapered as above and this allows the full width of the flange to support the wheel during the grinding operation.c. A paper washer should not be used on the hub section of a depressed centre wheel.
